I played with the trial this morning of sure cuts a lot. It cuts through the image you print with lines so you can't use it. I guess its like their water mark. It did cut the fonts I had in my pc. I did have to update my cricut with a newer version of firmware. And that was easy. It does cut slow just like the cricut software no matter what speed your machine is on.
It cut at the software speed. I think I might buy it when the strike is over. You can buy it with paypal. I promised I wouldn't buy anything scrappy until this was over!
I have just purchased the full version of SCAL. It is brilliant, you can even load it twice, so I have it on my desktop pc and my laptop, for going mobile with my baby bug. Having Design Studio and Sure Cuts A Lot is a perfect world for Cricut owners. Yes, there are a few issues, least you get a response from the company, unlike Provocraft. Personally, I was happy to take the risk of using it on my baby bug, as it is out of guarantee. PROVOCRAFT should have listened to their customers, we can't all afford lots of cartridges. If they had, they could have given us the option of 2 software packages.
1 for the cartridges and 1 for true type fonts and they would have been receiving all the financial benefits of listening to us.RANT OVER. I have this software, and I think it is amazing!!!
I had to get a free trial of Cricut Design Studio first, in order to upgrade the firmware on my machine, and then was able to purchase the SCAL software. It is very easy to use, and when you realize how limitless it is, you will never need to buy another cartridge again!!! I did actually use one of the cartridges for a birthday card, though. I don't plan on getting rid of them yet! I would highly recommend the SCAL software, because it makes your Cricut as versatile as a wishblade or sillhouette, and you still have the ease of using a cartridge if you choose!!

Yes yes and yes to all your questions. I have SCAL and I am with Kristi on this one.
Inkscape take a bit of learning but there are a TON of people out there including myself that would be willing to help out! And with inkscape you don't need to know much to convert and image over. I'm sure inkscape can do a lot more than I know but for what I do thats all I need to know. What kinda image were you thinkin?
I don't know what cricut is coming out with but I'm not sure how much better it can be than SCAL. I have been using SCAL since it came out and I love every bit of it!
